Elyson was announced in fall 2016 along the Grand Parkway, and its own site lists ten builders still selling. Its roofs are the youngest on this site. That is the reason it is here: the roof age argument does not apply, and the storm argument does.
That is the objection this whole site exists to answer. A roof on an Elyson house is somewhere between new and ten years old. It is under a manufacturer warranty and it looks perfect. The May 16, 2024 derecho and Hurricane Beryl on July 8, 2024 did not check roof age. The metro-wide figures are estimated gusts near 100 mph downtown Houston for the derecho; this page does not quote a gust speed for Elyson because none has been verified for it.

Builder and manufacturer documents matter more on a new house. Keep them; ask the contractor what a repair does to them.

Nothing about the storms of 2023 and 2024 was different for a newer house. What is different is the confidence homeowners place in the roof. A dated photo record of the roof today, and an inspection after any wind event, are the low-cost things worth doing.
